Noida to become centre of 5-star hotels in next 2 years

NOIDA: In the next two years, Gautam Budh Nagar is going to emerge as the centre of luxury living in Delhi-NCR with the stretch along Noida-Greater Noida Expressway proposed to be developed along the lines of Las Vegas. With 2,500 rooms in the star category to be completed by 2014 and over 10 international players in the hospitality industry setting up their hotels in the city as per a Noida Authority report (of which TOI has a copy), Noida is soon to become an integrated one-stop destination for a luxurious stay.

These projects are clustered primarily around two areas in Noida. The area around Sectors 15 and 16 in Noida will see hotels being built by international hospitality giants such as Renision Courtyard, Sheraton and Four Seasons. The second cluster will be along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Westin Resort, The Lalit Grand, Grand Hyatt and Marriot will be completing their hotels along the expressway.

Officials explained that these upcoming projects were planned before the global recession and were revived once again once the world economy bounced back. "The hospitality industry is highly dependent on foreign travellers as well as Indian business class travellers. With the economy picking up, the demand for luxury living has picked up again," said an official.

Most of these projects are expected to be completed by 2014. Currently, Delhi tops the NCR market in terms of the availability of luxury rooms with a total of 7,865 rooms in the 5 star and 5 star deluxe categories while Gurgaon has 1,208 rooms for the same and the figure stands at 168 rooms for Noida, 204 rooms in Faridabad and 155 rooms in Ghaziabad. In terms of area, Delhi again has the maximum share of approximately 82% of the room inventory followed by Gurgaon at 13% with the remaining 4% spread across Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

According to the report, over 5,800 rooms in luxury hotels are to be seen by the end of 2013 in all over the NCR. Noida will account for almost half of this. "Noida is a rapidly evolving market for luxury hotels with substantial amount of supply coming in form of integrated projects. Estimated supply in NCR region will mainly be spread across Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida with share of around 50%, 30% and 15% respectively," reads the report.

As per the report, this is all set to change by 2014. With the addition of 2,500 rooms in Noida and Greater Noida alone, Noida's share in terms of rooms will increase to 15%.
