Huawei Ascend Y530 with Android 4.3, dual-core Snapdragon 200 launched

Huawei has expanded its 'Ascend' Android smartphone series, with the launch of Ascend Y530. The Chinese handset maker has launched the new budget smartphone for the European market priced at 149 euros, which translates too roughly Rs. 12,600.

The newly launched Huawei Ascend Y530 will be initially available in Germany starting March. PhoneArena first reported the launch and claims that the smartphone will be available in a dual--tone colour design in four versions, including Black and Grey; Black and Red; Black and Yellow, and lastly White and Grey.

The Huawei Ascend Y530 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with company's Emotion UI on top. It features a 4.5-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 480x854 pixels. The smartphone is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor alongside 512MB of RAM.


The Ascend Y530 sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and also includes a VGA front-facing camera. It includes a 4GB of inbuilt storage and also support microSD card, though there is no word on maximum storage capacity for now. The Ascend Y530 weighs 145 grams and comes with dimensions 132.5x67x9.3mm. It packs a 1750mAh battery.

The Huawei Ascend Y530 will join the company's budget Ascend Y series which includes the Ascend Y511, Ascend Y320, Ascend Y300, and Ascend Y200.

Earlier, Huawei released the refreshed version of its super-slim Ascend P6, dubbed Ascend P6 S.

The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, coated with Huawei's native Emotion UI 2.0. It also features dual-SIM support. Huawei Ascend P6 S bears a 4.7-inch LCD touchscreen with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, similar to P6 handset. The screen is said to be super sensitive, and also recognizes glove touch input.

The Ascend P6 S is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, slightly better than the Ascend P6's 1.5GHz quad-core, which is paired with 2GB RAM.

Huawei launches two new 28 nm High Performance Mobile (HPM) processors

Chinese mobile and telecommunications company Huawei has launched two new 28 nm High Performance Mobile (HPM) processors, one being the quad-core while the other an octa-core. 

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei broke the news on his Sina Weibo page. The quad core chip announced is supposed to be called HiSilicon K3V2 Pro. It will based on ARM Cortex A-9 architecture, supporting GSM/WCDMA/TD-SCDMA/TD-LTE and FDD-LTE modems.

The octa-core chip is expected to debut in market with the name of HiSilicon K3V3. It will use ARM's big.LITTLE architecture. It will also feature a quad-core Cortex A-15 chip and quad-core Cortex A-7 chip. While the A-15 chip will be utilized for heavy tasks, the A-7 will take care of light-weight ones. 


However, it is unknown if it will be able to implement the Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP). In HMP, all eight cores are used in number of different combinations, acting as 1 to 8 cores all at the same time.


In a related development, Engadget reported that another 64-bit chipset was detailed in a separate post by Yu but for unknown reasons, it was deleted soon afterwards. The unnamed 64-bit chipset was detailed to feature a quad-core Cortex A-57, and quad-core Cortex A-53 combination. 


Apart from having its own chips, the company would also use chips form MediaTek and Qualcomm for its high-end devices, confirmed Yu.


Going by the previous track record, Huawei's system-on-chip is not much widely known compared to the ones offered from Samsung, Qualcomm and MediaTek. However, the company's upcoming smartphone, the Huawei P6S is expected to sport its octa-core processor. 

For the first time, 64-bit chipset was equipped in Apple's iPhone 5s after which Samsung too has announced its plans to incorporate the same capability in its upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone.

Huawei developing quad-core flagship smartphone to take on Galaxy S4

Rumours suggest that Huawei is working on a flagship smartphone to take on the S4. The rumoured device is expected to have a 1080p HD display and a 1.8GHz quad-core CPU.

Rumours are spreading like wildfire that hint that Huawei is working on a flagship smartphone aimed at giving the Galaxy S4 a run for its money.


If information circulating the internet is to be believed, the new smartphone from Huawei will have 4.9-inch display with a 1920x1080 pixel resolution. Under the hood, a 1.8 GHz K3V3 quad-core ARM Cortex A15 based CPU, Mali T604 GPU along with 2GB of RAM will power the smartphone. The rear of the smartphone is also speculated to have a 13MP camera. A 2600mAh battery will power the entire package. The smartphone is expected to be 6.8mm thin.

The smartphone is expected to ship in April which seems right considering the Galaxy S4 is also expected to hit store shelves around the same time. No pricing information is available about the Huawei smartphone.

If the device is true, what remains to be seen is how Huawei prices the smartphone. If the price is considerably less that the S4 and the specifications up to par, Samsung might have a budget contender on their hands. Not to mention that Huawei has started making a name for itself in markets outside China.

In the past few months we have seen some interesting smartphones from Huawei. To start with, we have the Huawei Ascend D2. It has a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920x1280 pixels and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out of the box. The OS is skinned with Huawei’s Emotion interface. In terms of specifications under the hood, the D2 has Huawei’s K3V2 1.5GHz quad-core CPU along with 2GB of RAM. It has a whopping 13MP BSI rear-facing camera along with a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calls. It also sports a 3000mAh battery.

Next up, the Ascend Mate. It has a 6.1-inch display with a 1280x720 pixel IPS+ display and has a 1.5 GHz Hi-Silicon quad-core processor under the hood combined with 2GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out of the box and is powered by a 4050mAh battery. The Android OS is skinned with Huawei’s Emotion interface. It has an 8MP AF rear-facing camera with HDR and 1MP HD front-facing camera for video calls.


Last but not least, we have the Ascend P2. The smartphone boasts of a 4.7-inch IPS display with 720p resolution giving it a 312 ppi pixel density. Under the hood, a 1.5GHz quad-core Huawei K3V2 processor along with 1GB of RAM power the Ascend P2. It houses a 13MP BSI autofocus rear camera with LED flash, capable of HDR and recording 1080p HD video. It also houses a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calling, capable of 720p HD video recording.

Huawei eyes Nigerian smartphone’s market share

ONE of the international leading smartphone manufacturers, Huawel Incor., has announced strategic plans to dominate Nigeria’s highly competitive market in 2013, with the introduction of some of its reputable products, a new range of Android powered smartphones.

Specifically, in a statement over the weekend, the company, reputed as a leading telecomm solution provider with over two billion consumers in more than 140 countries across the globe and revenue base of over $32 billion (as of 2011), is out with its flagship top-end smartphones and tablets in the Nigerian market.


As part of plans to announce its full entry into the Nigeria’s market, Huawel’s local subsidiary, Huawei Technologies Nigeria, is launching the Ascend D Quad XL as its flagship smartphone, with the assurance of a powerful quad-core internal processor, which is exceptional for any device in its class with a processing speed of 1.5GHz.

The smartphone is equipped with a 4.5-inch display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and a pixel density of approximately 326 pixels-per-inch, matching Apple’s favorable Retina display. The IPS+ screen is highly irresistible and in some cases beats its Android competition such as the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S III.

Some basic facilities of the phone includes 1GB of RAM, a microSD slot, MHL connectivity, DLNA support, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, an 8-megapixel rear shooter and a 2,600 mAh battery. It doesn’t have a cheap feel thanks to the textured back plates, giving it a sleek feel.

Huawei smartphone is unique because the software, the Ascend D Quad XL, runs on the latest Android 4 operating system and additional benefit is that Huawei gives users a choice between a nearly non-skinned version of Android, known as the 2D Home, and a heavily customised and clunky 3D interface.

“Android is all about choices and freedom and that is exactly what Huawei has done with its software.  Other feature, which stands the Ascend out from devices in its class, is the battery life, which is the longest in the market.

“The Ascend D Quad XL’s irremovable battery is able to deliver enough juice for a full day’s use under normal circumstances like checking emails, updating status, sending text messages and making the occasional phone call. However, when pushing the device to the limits with high-intensity games and frequent usage, the Ascend D Quad XL was still able to deliver impressive results of more than 10 hours of battery life,” the company explained.


Meanwhile, the Ascend D Quad XL is not the only phone in the offing for Huawei. The global brand is also coming out with two powerful Android based smartphones namely, Honor & Mediapad 7 Lite devices. Also, Huawei is introducing mid-range devices like G6153 with a full ‘QWERTY’ keypad and social media capabilities to go with it, for those who may not be able to afford the high-end devices.

Huawei added that it was also introducing low-end devices for the market, which would include the G3620, G5520 and the G6006 phones.

Huawei’s 5-Inch Ascend D2 Takes The Scene With A Killer Screen

Huawei isn’t the biggest player in the phone game, but it’s making moves to step up. Huawei’s taking another stab at high-end relevance with its new Ascend D2, which looks like it could be a nice device if it isn’t plagued by delays.

The D2 rocks a 5-inch 1080p edge-to-edge display with a ludicrous density of 443ppi, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 13MP camera, and a 3000mAh battery that boasts an (alleged) two-day battery life. It’s also extremely water-resistant and survived a serious splashing on stage. It’s an Android Jelly Bean device with built-in augmented reality navigation capability and split-screen multitasking.


In short, the Ascend D2 to is more phone than its predecessor in just about every way, and looks to be trying to hang with the big names in the smartphone arena. But considering how long it took the D Quad to get to market, you might want to meter your expectations.

The HUAWEI Ascend D2 will be on sale in China in January 2013, and in Japan in the future. We have no idea on Australia (yet), but it’s likely places like MobiCity will start importing it early.

Huawei Ascend Mate Poses for the Camera with a 6-inch Display

Aside from the Ascend D2, a 5-inch smartphone, it looks like Huawei has another gigantic phone which is about to debut during CES 2013. If my memory serves me right, this smartphone was first seen sometime in October being demoed in a Huawei store. But now, the mysterious handset was pictured by Chinese site MyDrivers and based on those photos, the Huawei Ascend Mate will be sporting a huge 6.1-inch screen display.

You read it right folks, that’s a gigantic 6.1-inch display. It’s bigger than the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and even Huawei’s own Ascend D2. That  6.1-inch display is coming in at 1080p full HD resolution as well. Aside from the display, the Huawei Ascend Mate will also be featuring a quad-core 1.8 GHz processor (Huawei K3), 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera and a 4,000 mAh battery. It will also be sporting a thin form factorat 9.9mm.


The published photos also include a poster of the promotional material that Huawei will be using for the launch of the 6.1-inch Ascend Mate. And from what we can gather, it seems that Huawei is going all out in promoting their handset a better alternative to the Galaxy Note 2 which is currently doing pretty well in the market.

Can Huawei succeed in taking a piece of the pie that Samsung is enjoying right not in the so-called “phablet” market? That will be interesting to watch out for.

The Ascend G330 has specs similar to the G300 like a 4-inch (800×480 pixels) IPS capacitive touch screen display and a 5-megapixel auto focus camera with LED Flash. But the Ascend G330 comes with a 1GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.0 and a front-facing camera.


Huawei officially launched the Ascend G300 and the Ascend Y200 in the country back in July  this year priced at Rs. 13490 and Rs. 8,190 respectively.

The Ascend G300 is a mid-range smartphone with specs like 4-inch WVGA display, 512MB RAM, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera and a 1500mAh battery.


The Ascend Y200 features a 3.5-inch IPS touch screen, Qualcomm 800MHz CPU and Android 2.3. The smartphone also comes with a dual-mic, used for background noise cancellation and a 1250mAh battery.

The company has also partnered with other telecom operators like Spice and Airtel to launch smartphones in the Ascend series in India. It unveiled the Ascend Y100 for Rs. 5,990 in collaboration with Spice and also launched the first 4G smartphone in the country with Airtel namely the Ascend P1 LTE boasting impressive specs such as a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display with Gorilla Glass 2 and 8-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash.

Huawei to go jumbo with 6.1-inch Ascend Mate

Huawei has something big in store for CES.

A company executive prematurely showed off the company's Ascend Mate, a jumbo 6.1-inch smartphone, which was rumored to be its big announcement for the Consumer Electronics Show in early January. 


But Huawei executive Richard Yu pulled the phone out while at a Huawei store in China, according to Engadget.


CNET contacted Huawei for comment, and we'll update the story when we get a response.

The Ascend Mate is the latest in a class of phones known as "phablets," or a hybrid between a phone and a tablet. The category was pioneered by Samsung Electronics and its Galaxy Note line, but others have popped up, including LG and its Optimus Vu (known as Intuition at Verizon Wireless).

With many of the other major handset manufacturers bowing out of CES, Huawei may use the show to further build its reputation with consumers. The Chinese company has long coveted the U.S. market but has largely made more affordable phones for the prepaid carriers, or low-cost unbranded phones for the bigger national carriers.


The speculation for the Ascend Mate calls for a 1.8 gigahertz quad-core chip, a large 4,000 mAh battery, 9.9 millimeters in thickness, and a cost of $480. Huawei has something big in store for CES.

Huawei, Intel tie up to bring IT solutions for global market

 

BEIJING: Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei today announced signing of an agreement with Intel to cooperate in enhancing engineering efforts and bringing new IT solutions to the market.

The collaboration will include enhancing engineering cooperation and building competitive products and solutions for server, storage, data centre and cloud computing as well as jointly going to market in China and other geographic areas.


"Huawei has strong capability in server, storage, data centre and cloud computing. The strategic global cooperation MoU on IT will...allow us both to innovate around customer demand" President of Huawei IT product line Zheng Yelai said in a statement.


The aim of this MoU is to strengthen and highlight the continued focus on server, storage, data centre and cloud computing products, and to share market development efforts, synchronise future strategies and shorten product development cycles, the statement said.


"The key advantage for both companies is the ability to bring new innovative product and usage models to market," Intel corporate vice president and China president Ian Yang said.

Huawei announces three Android 4.0 smartphones

New Delhi: Chinese Phone Maker Huawei has unveiled three latest smartphones, the Huawei Ascend G330, Ascend G600 and Ascend Y201 Pro at the ongoing IFA event in Berlin.

Huawei also showcased its brand new user interface Emotion, which the company claims, will play a critical role in cementing the Huawei smartphone portfolio.

The company stated that the new Ascend smartphones will go on sale starting October in markets across the world.


Ascend G330 runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) and has 4-inch WVGA with 480x800 touchscreen. It also has 512MB RAM, 1GHz dual-core processor.There's also a 5MP camera, a 1500mAh battery and 4GB of internal storage.


The high-end Ascend G600 runs Android 4.0 ICS. It features a 4.5 inch LCD IPS HD screen and a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor. It has 1930mAh battery, 4GB of internal storage expandable to 32GB and NFC and DLNA technology built-in.

Huawei planning to manufacture smartphones in Chennai facility-Report

Huawei, a leading Chinese telecommunications equipment maker is planning to manufacture smartphones at its facility in Chennai to expand its presence in Indian market, reports, Financial Chronicle.

The report has quoted Victor Shan, president of Huawei India’s device business department, as saying that the company is currently conducting quality evaluations and sorting out supply chain issues.


The company is mulling to expand its presence to over 200 cities with 20,000 outlets in three years.
 

"Low-level feature phones are preferred in rural areas while smartphones are preferred in tier I and tier II cities." He said.

 
“Tier I cities accounted for 60 percent of its smartpone sales here”, he added.

 
According to the newspaper, Huawei currently present in 35 Indian cities and has 2,500 outlets across the country plans to expand its presence to over 200 cities and 20,000 outlets over the next three years.

Huawei launches data card with Wi-Fi

Global information and communications technology solutions provider, Huawei on Monday launched the E355 data card with Wi-Fi.

The product functions both as a data card for a single user and as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, which can simultaneously connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices for Internet connectivity anytime, anywhere.


Priced at Rs 5,499, the product comes with a universal serial bus (USB) interface and unlike traditional data cards can also be powered with a variety of USB chargers.


Whether users are at home or travelling, the Wi-Fi hotspot travels along with them, providing Internet connectivity continuously.


“Huawei E355 also offers flexibility for smaller business establishments to quickly connect a small team to Internet and start business on the go,” Victor Shanxin, President, Huawei Device India, said.
