The entry-level category has two new arrivals by Celkon, christened A9+ and Signature One A107 in India and the smartphones have gone up on sale pegged at low price points. The former with slightly better components had been spotted earlier and now has been graced with a retail tag reading Rs 6,999, while the latter sports Rs 3,299 as its MRP.
Even though the Celkon Signature One A107 and the A9+ happen to be price-conscious phones, they have both been optimized for Android Ice Cream Sandwich which is a platform that is rapidly becoming redundant. This could be a drawback while dealing with competition in the market, seeing as Jelly Bean has been paying some attention even to certain low-budget devices.
The first phone accommodates a 5-inch touch display on its front panel, hidden underneath which is a dual core 1GHz processor. As opposed to this, the second contender’s face has been adorned with a 3.5-inch touchscreen and although the handset’s chipset has been clocked at 1GHz like the aforementioned gadget, it houses only one core.
The camera offerings of the phablet surpass that of the 3.5-inch phone, even as the former comes with an 8MP primary snapper, while the latter settles for a 2MP shutter. The front surface of each however has been individually planted with a webcam. Internal memory details of the smartphones have been withheld, but we do know that expansions of up to 32GB are supported by both.
No other online shopping portal except Snapdeal has held the Celkon Signature One A107 or A9+ in stock, which leaves potential buyers with no option in price tags. The silver lining however is that interested folks can take advantage of the e-retailer’s EMI schemes just in case they don’t wish to part with the whole amount all at once.
