Acer to launch Iconia Tab A510 in India by June

This will mark the entry of Acer's first Quad core and Android 4.0 tablet in Indian market. The fate of Iconia A200 in India is still not clear.

Acer is set to launch its first quad core tablet, the Iconia Tab A510, in India by June this year.

"Acer is in the process of finalising plans and will launch the Iconia A510 in next two months in India," said a source familiar with the development in the company to The Mobile Indian.

"However, there is no plan as of now to launch the dual core processor totting Iconia A200 tablet in India," the source added.

Acer Iconia Tab A510 features a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with 1280x800 pixel resolution. Under the hood, it will house a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor with 1 GB LPDDR2 memory and 32 GB on-board storage.

Acer will offer Iconia Tab A510 with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich layered with new Acer Ring user interface. It will also have TegraZone which will offer direct access to the list of apps and games optimised for the Tegra platform.

The Iconia Tab A510 tablet has 5 megapixel camera at the back along with a front facing HD camera in the front. Other than that, the tablet will feature Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, GPS, combo audio jack, micro USB and micro HDMI.

For best audio output, Acer has incorporated Dolby Mobile 3+ with the twin stereo speakers. It is powered by a big Lithium Polymer 36.26 Watts battery (9800 mAH) which is expected to offer best battery backup amongst all the tablets currently available in the market.

Acer will launch this tablet in WiFi and WiFi+ 3G versions. No price has been announced yet but given that it is priced at $450 in the USA and European market, which translates to Rs 24,000 only, we hope that it will be priced very reasonably in India too.
