BMW plans to launch a new “entry-level” sedan based on the actual 1 Series.
The vehicle is expected to hit the market this winter and will compete with the upcoming Audi A3 Sedan and Mercedes CLA four-door coupe.
While the current 1-Series features a front-wheel-drive system, the sedan, most probably will adopt a rear-wheel-drive platform - the one same that will be used for the 1-Series GT.
Under the hood, there will be both four and six-cylinder engines, while an electric version is being considered.
The last time BMW sold a “cheap” 4 door sedan was back in 1989 and it was called the 318is…still a beauty.
