German luxury carmaker BMW drove in the next-generation 3-Series sedan in India at a time when it faces increasing pressure from compatriot Audi. BMW, which holds a slender lead over Audi to maintain its leadership in the luxury car market, feels that the new car will help gain in numbers. The car, that will be available in petrol and diesel versions, has been priced between Rs 28.90 lakh and Rs 37.90 lakh (all India ex-showroom). tnn
MRPL in red, posts Rs 1,521 crore loss: MRPL posted a net loss for the first time in a decade, even as its crude supplies from Iran were hit due to shipping restrictions under US sanctions. It reported a net loss of Rs 1,521 crore in April-June quarter against a profit of Rs 173 crore in same period a year ago.
Highways min opts for Haldea's expertise: The highways ministry has said it has requested for expert advice from Gajendra Haldea, advisor to Planning Commission deputy chairman, in drafting the model concession agreement (MCAs) for the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway. Haldea has been roped in as the ministry fears that it may encounter "numerous challenges in terms of its conception, structuring, award, financing and implementation" as this is the first expressway project to be taken up by it. Besides, Haldea has "considerable experience" in the public-private partnership domain as well as drafting MCAs.
