BlackBerry users hit with service outage


BlackBerry service outage has hit the users in many countries including India on Friday. As a result of this BlackBerry Messenger users were not able to send emails and messages, according to reports.

 
This was the first such instance since the company launched its new BlackBerry 10 smartphones earlier this year. Soon after it happened the Twitter was inundated with complaints with people seeking explanation from the company. 
 

BlackBerry said that the outage was temporary and it is taking steps to restore the services.  "Some of our customers may be experiencing issues with BlackBerry services. All relevant support teams are working to resolve the issue. We apologize to any customers who may be affected," the company has been quoted as saying. .

 
Varghese Thomas, director - corporate communications - India & Greater China Region said, "As an update, we can confirm that our technical teams have addressed the issue and BlackBerry services are returning to normal levels. We apologize to customers for any inconvenience. We take all service issues - no matter how small - very seriously and through constant monitoring and investigation we aim to ensure our network meets customer expectations."
 

Shares of the company closed down six cents to $15.77 on the Toronto Stock Exchange, according to some reports.
