If you are planning to buy a notebook or a netbook or an Ultrabook within 1-2 months I would recommend you to delay your purchase because Intel has launched its 4th generation of i core processors also known as Haswell processors in India.
These processors will address the numero uno problem in portable PC's, that is, their poor battery life. Intel claims that these processors will increase battery life by 50 percent. If such claims hold true in practical life then we might have a PC which could truly be called a wireless device.
Intel showcased these processors on 4th of June at Computex, Taiwan and they were officially launched in India on 27th June. The improved battery life is the USP of these processors.
Imagine a world where you would not have to carry chargers to your college and would still be able to extract 8-9 hours from your laptop. Intel says that these processors will only turn on when they are needed and will shut down during idling thereby saving the battery life.
These processors also have a very advanced GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) which Intel claims will forego the need of a dedicated GPU for most of the users. It will be a blessing for all gamers who can compromise a little on quality as no processor can match the performance of a high end graphics card. It will also help video editors as their videos would render faster than ever before.
These processors will also support faster multitasking and swift booting. They will not have a significant boost in logical performance so desktop users holding off their purchase would not make much sense.
As you know that rupee in depreciating, these processors might get costly with a little improvement in performance for desktop users.
Apple, at their developer conference, has also announced that the latest generation of Macs will be powered by Haswell processors.
So wait for a little while and you may finally get a laptop that is shy of a charger.
