Yahoo rolls out redesigned homepage in India, featuring infinite scrolling


Yahoo has been implementing several changes and has even decided to focus on mobile. In one such attempt to woo Indian users, the Internet giant has completely revamped its Yahoo India homepage. Along with India, the all-new homepage has been rolled out in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam, while it has been live in the US for almost a year now.


I.M. Swaminathan, Director, Media Product and Business Operations, India & South East Asia, Yahoo! told The Hindu, “This is the starting phase of the renaissance. The idea is to make it entertaining and a daily habit”. Talking about the new homepage, he further said that it has been designed to become more fluid and adaptable and make it easier for the users to discover content.


The new homepage offers an infinite scroll as the web page never ends, alongside a personalized homepage that is based on a users’ surfing behavior and also allows reading, saving for later or deleting. It also includes a section that lets users view upcoming birthday from their Facebook account. The homepage also has utility apps such as Yahoo! Weather, Finance and Flickr, offering seamless experience across platforms and devices.


Yahoo reportedly has 800 million users worldwide and about half of them are mobile internet users. In India, it has approximately 30 million monthly users. “In India, the growth is happening mainly from tablets and mobile phone segments. Mobile users on Yahoo! network are increasing annually at 25 per cent and the company has 15 million such users of Yahoo! homepage,” added Swaminathan.
