Samsung introduces new gadgets

Korean electronic device manufacturer, Samsung, introduced two new gadgets that it said would maintain the company’s high market share in each of the device’s respective markets this year.

Samsung Indonesia on Tuesday and Wednesday revealed its third generation NX30 Smart Camera and Galaxy NotePRO, two high-end gadgets.

The NX30, which is a mirrorless interchangable-lens camera, shows Samsung’s continuing trend to innovate user-friendly smart cameras that are “connected”.

The device is embedded with the Tag & Go application that allows users to easily upload images to Dropbox or Flickr via a WiFi connection. The camera also features the ability to use a Photo Beam feature to transfer images to a smartphone or tablet by touching the two devices together, thanks to the NFC connectivity.

The NX30 is geared with a 20.3-megapixel-resolution sensor and nine frames per second (fps) feature that allows even newbies to capture fast-moving scenes with style, like a pro using a DSLR camera.

Andreas Rompis, Samsung Indonesia IT and mobile business vice president, said the decision to introduce more mirrorless cameras was based on increasing market demand.

He said the mirrorless camera market rose by 22.3 percent in 2013 in Indonesia, while compact digital camera shipments dropped by 2.8 percent.

“We innovate more than just cell phones because smart life will require various gadgets,” Andreas said Tuesday during the launch at Rimba Hotel in Jimbaran, Badung.

The NX30 boasts some powerful photo-centric features often found in only more advanced and more expensive cameras, such as a maximum 1/8000 shutter speed, and the ability to capture 1080/60p high definition (HD) video.

Although claimed as a compact, the NX30 is actually relatively larger than other mirrorless cameras, but still more compact than DSLRs.
